How Christians lie about the Ten Commandments
www.samesexprocreation.com/document/tencomm.htmObviously, the ability to do same-sex procreation leads to children either having two mothers or two fathers. Which raises an interesting religious conflict. How do such children make sense of the expression "Honor your mother and father"? Shouldn't they be told "Honor your mother and mother" or "Honor your father and father", as the case may be? Or isn't it just simply easier to tell children "Honor your parents", which covers all of the modern day possibilities for parenting, both biologically and sociologically (e.g., adoptions). Indeed, if you were designing an eternal law for mankind, knowing all future such possibilities of parenting, wouldn't you have written the law "Honor your parents all the days"?
And thus the conflict. For one of the Ten Commandments quite clearly states "Honor your mother and honor your father", which seems incompatible with someone having just two mothers or just two fathers. While at some point in the future, we shall explore this conflict, we must first examine the nature of the Ten Commandments, and how Christians lie about what the Commandments actually are. In particular, we must examine the following questions:
- Are there 10, 11 or over 600 commandments?
- Why do seven of the commandments have a death penalty no one talks about?
- Did Jesus approve of the commandments, and the death penalty?
To not address these questions about the Ten Commandments is to lie about the word of God.
The first lie about the Ten Commandments is that there is a unique set of ten commandments, and that there are just ten commandmens. Neither is true. What follows below is the ten or eleven most well known commandments (out of over 600 commandments), taken from the books of Exodus (E), Leviticus (L), Numbers (N), Deuteronomy (D) and Judges (J). But beyond the well known 10/11 commandments, there are other commandments such as:
- Don't play football: And the pig ... it is unclean for you. You must not .. touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. Leviticus 11:7-8.
- Steal your neighbor's food - If you enter your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket. If you enter your neighbor's grainfield, you may pick kernels with your hands [to eat], but you must not put a sickle to his standing grain. Deuteronomy 23:21-22
- Fashion tips: Do not wear clothes of wool and [flax] linen woven together. Deuteronomy 22:11
- Inefficient farming: Do not plant two kinds of seeds in your vineyard; if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled. Deuteronomy 22:12
- Don't shave: You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard. Leviticus 19:27.
You might argue, these are only secondary laws, less important. But the Old Testament is quite clear. All of these laws are equally important and must be equally obeyed. And despite the lies of the Paul, these laws apply to Christians, in the words of Jesus himself:
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law ... I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished ... whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:17-19.But why should Christians obey Jesus' commandment about obeying Old Testament commandments when Christians don't even obey Jesus' New Testament commandments, such as the famously ignored "Don't preach in public" deliberately ignored by every tele-evangelist:
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners [or on television or radio, or in Congress], that they may be seen by men." Matthew 6:5 ... "But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to [God] who is in secret;" Matthew 6:8
The second lie about the Ten Commandments, more evil than the first, is that seven of these commandments have a death penalty: MUST BE PUT TO DEATH required for any violations, death penalties that Christians unethically fail to include when they try shoving the Ten Commandments down everyone's throats. These seven death penalty commandments are:
- Have no other gods, or put be to death
- Do not blaspheme god's name, or put be to death
- Worship no idols, or put be to death
- No working on the sabbath, or put be to death
- Honor your mother and father, or put be to death
- No murdering, or put be to death
- No adultery, or put be to death
If most countries in modern civilization have banned the death penalty as being too evil, as being too savage, (as of 2007, 128 countries have abolished the death penalty in law or practice), and it is, then it is evil to say the death penalties associated with these seven commandments is the word of a very non-evil God. Such death penalty attributions to God insults God.
"... laws seeking to regulate human actions should not embrace savage measures ...", Cesare Becaria, 18th century Italian philosopher
The third lie about the Ten Commandments, those commandments that make it into the Ten because of the emphasis placed on them, is that there should be an eleventh Commandment, "FEAR YOUR GOD", as seen, for example, in Leviticus 25:17 - "Do not take advantage of each other, but FEAR YOUR GOD." A very lengthy list of FEAR GOD commandments appears below. Indeed, the "fear God" commandment is so repeated in the Old Testament, so embedded into the minds of the ancient Jews, that Moses did not have to write it down. So when Al Gore writes "Fear is the most powerful enemy of reason." in his book, "The Assault on Reason", he is attacking both Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Combine these three lies together, with what the Old Testament actually says about commandments and law, and how the Ten Commandments should be honestly written as, is:
- Fear your God.
- Have no other gods, or be put to death.
- Do not blaspheme god's name, or be put to death.
- Worship no idols, or be put to death.
- Do no work on the Sabbath, or be put to death.
- Honor your mother and father, or be put to death.
- Do not murder, or be put to death.
- Do not commit adultery, or be put to death.
- Do not steal.
- Do not lie.
- Do not covet your neighbor's things.
So until Christians stop lieing about the Ten Commandments, they should shut up. So let's see what the Old Testament really says about these commandments, taken from the books of Exodus (E), Leviticus (L), Numbers (N), Deuteronomy (D) and Judges (J).
====================HAVE NO OTHER GODS ------------------ E 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me D 5:7 You shall have no other gods before me E 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. D 6:14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of other peoples around you; for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God ... D 6:13 Fear the Lord your God, serve [God] only and take you oaths in [God's] name. DEATH PENALTY (Note: based on the numerous penalties, this seems to be the most important commandment). E 22:20 Anyone who sacrifices to any god other than the Lord MUST BE DESTROYED [PUT TO DEATH]. L 20:2 Any [person] in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molech [another god] MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. The people of the community are to stone him. L 20:27 A man or a woman who is a medium or spiritist among you MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads. L 27:29 No person devoted to destruction [of objects to be dedicated to God] may be ransomed; he MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. N 25:4,5 The Lord said to Moses: "Take all the leaders of these people [who worshipped the Baal of Peor], KILL THEM ... So Moses said to Israel's judges: "Each of you MUST PUT TO DEATH those of your men who have joined in worshiping the Baal of Peor. N 25:16-18 The Lord said unto Moses, "Treat the Midianites [whose women seduced Israeli men to make sacrifices to other gods] as enemies and KILL THEM, because they treated you as enemies when they decieved you in the affair of Peor and their sister Cozbi, ... N 31:15-18 "Have you allowed the women [of Midian captured in war after all of the men of Midian were PUT TO DEATH] to live?", [Moses] asked them. ... Now KILL all the boys. And KILL every woman who has slept with a man, [but keep the 32,000 {v. 35} virgins]. D 6:14 Do not follow other gods ... [God] will DESTROY YOU FROM THE FACE OF THE LAND [PUT TO DEATH]. D 13:1-5 If a prophet [or dream interpreter] ... and he says "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them", ... That prophet or dreamer MUST BE PUT TO DEATH D 13:6-10 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closet friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go worship other gods." ... You must certainly PUT HIM TO DEATH. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people MUST STONE HIM TO DEATH, ..." D 17:4,5 If it is true [a man or woman has worshiped other gods] and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and STONE THAT PERSON TO DEATH. D 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say [how do you prove so?], or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. [Message from Jesus: I agree such people MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law ... I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished ... whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:17-19. L 19:12 Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. L 22:31,32 ... I am the Lord. Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. DEATH PENALTY L 24:15 Say to the Israelites: "If anyone curses his God, he will be held responsible; anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, ... E 34:17 Do not make cast idols. D 27:15 Cursed is the man who carves an image or casts an idol ... and sets it up in secret. L 19:4 Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. L 26:1 Do not make idols or set up an image of a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. DEATH PENALTY E 32:7,8,27,28,35 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go down, because your people ... have become corrupt. They ... have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrified to it ... Then [Moses] said to [the Levites], "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor [who helped make, and bowed before, the cast idol]." The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of of the people [were PUT TO DEATH]. ... And the Lord struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf [idol] Aaron had made. [Message from Jesus: I agree such people MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work ... D 5:12 Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. L 19:30 Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. L 23:3 There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest ... You are not to do any work; L 25:4 But in the seventh year, the land is to have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath to the Lord. DEATH PENALTY E 30:14 Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it MUST BE PUT TO DEATH; E 30:15 ... Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day MUST BE PUT TO DEATH E 35:2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does work on it MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. N 15:35 The the Lord said to Moses, "The man [who has found working on the Sabbath] MUST DIE. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses. [Message from Jesus: I agree such people MUST BE PUT TO DEATH. The following punishments are meant to reinforce that it is not a choice, but rather is mandatory, to PUT PEOPLE TO DEATH, for violating the commandments. You also have to wonder why God is so damn angry. Punishment for Disobedience 14 " 'But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, 15 and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away your life. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. 17 I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you. 18 " 'If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. 19 I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. 20 Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of the land yield their fruit. 21 " 'If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve. 22 I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted. 23 " 'If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to be hostile toward me, 24 I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over. 25 And I will bring the sword upon you to avenge the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands. 26 When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will be able to bake your bread in one oven, and they will dole out the bread by weight. You will eat, but you will not be satisfied. 27 " 'If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters. 30 I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will abhor you. 31 I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings. 32 I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled. 33 I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins. 34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate and you are in the country of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35 All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it. 36 " 'As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them. 37 They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies. 38 You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you. 39 Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their fathers' sins they will waste away. [Message from Jesus: I agree with such additional punishments. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law ... I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
